Telling time in Spanish and asking what time it is, can be done in two ways: formal, complete sentences, OR, informal, everyday spoken Spanish.

¿Qué hora es?

¿Qué horas ?

¿Cuántas horas?

There are some other ways too, but these are the most common.

Now the hardest part is knowing how to answer.

To tell time in Spanish, you say the words...

Son	las	cuatro	y	veinticuatro
There are	the	four	and	twenty-four

Quarter after, quarter til, 30

Son las tres y quince	Tres y cuarenta y cinco	Tres y treinta
Tres y quince	Quince para las cuatro	Tres y media

10 after, 10 til, 20 after, 20 til

Son las tres y diez	Tres y cincuenta
Tres y diez	Diez para las cuatro

Son las tres y veinte	Tres y cuarenta
Tres y veinte	Veinte para las cuatro
