Spanish Verb Conjugation

It can be confusing to learn Spanish verb conjugation. I'll do my best to explain it so simply that your child could understand it if needed. It's not too bad after all.

All verbs in Spanish end in one of three ways...

-ar-er-ir

To use a verb, drop which ever ending it has (-ar,-er,OR -ir) and add a new one.

The new ending will show who is doing the action.

Now let's see the endings...
Verbhablaraprenderescribir
Drop ending-ar-er-ir
(I)Yohabloaprendoescribo
(You)Túhablasaprendesescribes
(He/She/It)Él/Ella/Ustedhablaaprendeescribe
(We)Nosotroshablamosaprendemosescribimos
(You)Vosotroshabláisaprendéisescribís
(You)Ustedeshablanaprendenescriben

That's everything! For every -ar, -er, -ir verb you just follow this pattern to determine their endings. There are some verbs that don't follow this pattern. Click here to see Spanish Irregular Verbs.
