Spanish
Preterite Tense
Spanish
preterite tense is how you talk about an event that occurred in the
past. This can be a little tricky because Spanish has several past
tenses. However, you'll use this one to simply show a once and done
action. To form the Spanish preterite tense you'll
take the stem of a verb and add an ending that correlates to the
subject of the sentence. All
verbs in Spanish end in -ar, -er, or -ir. You'll take off the ending
and add the new verb ending to make it the preterite tense. Here are
the endings...
| hablar | aprender | escribir | | -ar | -er | -ir | | hablé | aprendí | escribí | | hablaste | aprendiste | escribiste | | habló | aprendió | escribió | | hablamos | aprendemos | escribimos | | hablastéis | aprendistéis | escribistéis | | hablaron | aprendieron | escribieron |
