Spanish GenderSome times
English speakers strugle with Spanish gender. English doesn't have
gender when it comes to nouns. However, most languages do. Here is a
quick and simple dialogue to get you started using the correct gender
for each noun. For more practice go to the Spanish
nouns section in the grammar. Mama,
no
me deja entrar en mi cuarto.

| | A: Mama, no me
deja
entrar en mi cuarto. | |
Mom, she won't let me in my room.
B: Se está cambiando. | |
She's getting changed.
A: Nada más está quitando su ropa.
She's just taking her clothes off.
B: Por su puesto, ella es una
dama, y tú eres un hombre.
That's right, she's a girl and you're a boy. |
|
Now
to see the mindset when translating:
| Mama | no | me | deja | entrar | en | | Mom | no | me | lets | enter | in |
| Se | está | cambiando | | Herself | she
is | changing |
| Nada | más | está | quitando | su | ropa | | Nothing | more | is | taking
off | her | clothes |
| Por
su puesto | ella | es | una | dama | y | | Exactly | she | is | a | woman | and |
